EPINARD
IMPROVED IN APPEARANCE.
Epinard, th« champion French colt, has wintered well, writes Robin Goodfellow in the "Daily Mail." He does not look so coltish as he did last year, but he still has the same happy disposition, never misses an oat, and enjoys every gallop. He has developed on magnificientlines, and now more than ever appears the horse'of quality his previous racing proved. But there is a big programme marked out for him this season, and a choice of races is necessary. • " ••* , Emphatic statements have been broadcast that Epinard will run in the Gold Cup and also spent the autumn racing iv the "United States against the best of' the ) American four-year-olds—the latter contests over relatively short- distances. It is obvious tl>e horse will not be called upon to get through' any such programme. Nothing definite has been settled . regarding the visit to America, and if that proposal be entertained; •My Wertheimer will not have the colt trained, for the Gold Cup. ■ ' ■'>. ' . Epinard indeed is .not likely to be, trained for the great long-distance ' trophy", but if all goes well we'shall see him run in other races at Ascot.
