WEST COAST HOLD-UP
RELIEF TO, MINERS' FAMILIES.
The balance-sheet prepared by the New Zealand Miners' Federation in connection with funds forwarded through that office to the West Coast for the relief of miners' dependants during the recent industrial hold-up, shows that a tota'r of £8391 19s lOd was raised. ' Of that amount £7644 Os lOd was subscribed by miners in Australia, while £1255 11s was raised by the New Zealand Alliance, of Labour, £67 7s 4d by members of various unions, and £14 was donated by individual subscribers. On the expenditure side of the statement a sum of £8946 14s 4d is shown as having been paid to the AVestport Miners' District Council, while £1 4s 8d was spent in cables and telegrams to .Australia, and Uio "West Const Council.
