LIKELY MAJORITY
MINIMUM WAGE BILL.
(AUSTRALIAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) ti .«!-. • LOND' ON> 17th March. The Daily Herald" lobbyist estimates that the Government is likely to have a majority of 20 in the second reading of the Minimum Wage Bill for miners.
lie fate of the Bill has an important bearing on the present mining dispute. A conference of owners and workers last week failed to agi^e on terms, and adjourned to 26th March, by which time the^ Bill will have been dealt with. If it is defeated a ballot on the proposal for a national strike will probably be taken.
