AT THE LAST MINUTE
EXCESS LIQUOR REMOVED.
NEW YORK, 15th March. A last minute unpleasantness occurred aboard the liner Orduna just before her sailing for Hamburg, after a million dollar bond had been filed with tho Federal authorities as a guarantee for her return to New York at the end of April. The Customs officials removed twelve bottle 3of Scotch whisky which ' was io excess of the forty-two and a half gallons of spirits allowed by the United Statos public health officers for tho medicinal use of the piissengors and crew on the homeward journey. Tho authorities indicated that no special action would be taken, the belief being expressed that the excess was probably due to a misunderstanding.
The Orduna is wrongly described in the cable messages as a Cunard liner. She belongs to the Pacific Steam Navigation Company, according to Lloyd's Register. She is of 15.499 tons, and was built in 1914 by Harland and Wolff.
