CAUGHT ON A SHIP
MAN WANTED ON THEFT CHARGE.
A carpenter named David Borne, 43 years of age, described as a Russian, appeared before Mr. C. R. Orr-Wal-ker, S.M., at the Magistrate's Court this' morning to answer the charge of the theft of £150 in money from Predeiick Newman. Chief-Detective Kemp, representing the police, said the accused.was arrested on Saturday afternoon by Detective Hunt as a stowaway on board the sailing ship Hesperian, which was anchored in the stream, on the eye of her departure for San Francisco. The accusod was charged with the theft of his partner's money. Upon the application of the chief detective Borne was remanded till the 26th March. • ' Accused refused the offer of being admitted to bail.
