ST. PATRICK'S DAY
SPORTS AND PROCESSION ABANDONED.
To-day, St. Patrick's Day, is being observed as a bank holiday. It is customary for a procession "to be ■ held through the main streets of the city on the Irish National Saint's Day, followed by a, sports1 programme. On this occasion, however, these events have been abandoned, the recent Archbishop Bedwood Jubilee celebrations having fallen at such a time that it was impossible to make adequate preparation for both functions. The children at all the Catholic schools hs^-e been given a holiday. An Irish national concert will be held at the Town Hall this evening, when it is expected that all the available seatj ing accommodation will be occupied. A I mgh.class programme-has been arranged, ihe following ladies and gentlemen will contribute :—Mr. Ernest Drake and Mrs. \Vilfrid Andrews (Dunedin), Mr. F G. Bourke (Auckland), Misses May MJYeowen, Maud Elderton, and Aileen NoWe, Messrs.
