KARORI SCHOOL QUEEN CARNIVAL

The Karori School Queen Carnival was brought to a successful finish on Friday night with the crowning of the two queens —Miss Gwen Guthrie, senior queen, and Miss Olive Tonkin, junior queen. Miss Platts-Mills and Miss Rita Coodin were the maids of honour, and Miss Natalie Williams successfully filled the position of mistress of the robes. The frocks and costumes" were charming in, both colour and design, and the stage decorations completed, a scene of brilliancy. The queens carried out iheir parts with charm and dignity, and the speech from the throne received well-merited, applause. Mr. Fen Hall made a tine champion in his coat of armour, and Mr. Barton Ginger, as Lord Chancellor, filled that high ofiice with his usual success. In knighting those responsible for the success of the carnival his ready wit caused a great amount of amusement. The ceremony was under the direction of Miss Boris Hume, to whom every praise is due for the presentation of such an excellent performance.
