The Big shoot for the New Zealand Rifle championship opens at Trentham on Tuesday next. Un Monday the ranges will be available all day for practice. The thaiiman of the executive is President H. T. Marshall, M.0., the executive "being Colonel R. Hughes, V.D. (vicechairman), Lieut.-Oolonel T. Cresswell, Y.D., Major P. B. Henderson, M.C Major V. Dunne, Presidents W. • N Masefield, F. J. Silvius, V. Donald, .and G. Ashley. President W. G. Follingham is - secretary, and Captain G. Felton statistical, officer. Major F. B. Mabin "vrill_Taot as entertainment officer. Colonel Hughes is executive officer-in-charge of the. meeting, having the following experienced, range officers with him: Colonel Cresswell, V.D., Majors Sandle, Barltrop, M'Naught, Dunne, Captain Eenkin Lieuts. King, Parkinson, Barcham, and Gibson.

Up to 600 yards the targets will be the Army targets, as used at the last Bisley Meeting.. In the snap-shooting at 300 yards the disc target has been increased in size from sixteen to twenty-two inches, .conforming to British Army conditions. This target has a twelve-inch central, counting five- points, remainder of target three points. It is expected that- the entries will fully reach last years-total of 250. In view of the line shooting being made at Papawai by many of the competitors scoring j s expected to be high.
