COALS TO NEWCASTLE
AUSTRALIAN NAVY USES WELSH.

MELBOURNE, 14th March. With reference to Press statements that the Australian Navy intended to import Welsh coal instead of using Newcastle coal, the Naval Department explains that during the war the reserve of coal was always maintained at Newcastle. That reserve was formerly imported from Westport. but now, owin«to the greater suitability, Welsh coal was being imported instead.
