tage in the mining village of Annbank, found Mrs. Brown with a duster in her hand. She said : "It will be a difficult job, but it won't make any difference to Jimmie or me. We will just come back when the whole thing is over to the house where Jinimie and the family and some of our grandchildren have been reared."
Mr, Brown, who is 62 years old, entered the mines when 12 years old, and subsequently became head of the Ayrshire Miners' Union, and, in 1917, secretary of the Scottish Union. He received an 0.8. E. in 1918.
The previous holder of the office was Lord Elphinstone.
