' . BERLIN,. 9th March. In view of the' approaching General Election, the Government of the Reich has appealed to the authorities in the occupied territories for the liberty of the Press and freedom of speech throughout the occupied zones in order to ensure uninfluenced voting. They have asked for permission for speakers from unoccupied Germany to address meetings, and that 14,000 inhabitants expelled from the occupied regions, of whom twothirds are voters, should be allowed to vote.
It, is stated that the Inter-Allied Rhineland High Commission is likely to grant the freedom of the Press as far as the safety of the occupation troops permits.
