SPECIAL FUNCTIONS.

The special functions being arranged areas follow :— _'. „ On Good Friday, 18th April, the beautiful memorial window shortly to be erected in the library (i.e., northern) wing of Victoria College will, be unveiled at 3 p.m. by the Hon. bir Robert Stout, in memory of the *" 130 students of the college who made tlio supreme sacrifice in the Great • War. To all who attend the silver jubilee this may v,-ell be the most ■ important function, as tho minds of all will be filled with memorjes of those * who,, had they not given their lives in answering the call of their country in its time of .need, would assuredly have been the first to rally to the silver jubilee of their old college. It is very fitting that the-un-veilng should be performed by Sir Robert. Stout, who has throughout been so intimately connected with Victoria University College. • . On Easter Saturday, at 9 a.m., visitors to both the jubilee and, the., University tournament will be accorded a civic reception in the Town Hall Concert Chamber, immediately following , which tlie University tennis championship's will commence on (lie Thorndon courts,- and the preliminary bouts of- the . boxing championships in the college "gynin." Simultaneously a series of informal reunions of past students will be held at Victoria College, where also friendly tennis contests between past students will be arranged. The boxing finals take place in the hall at 8 o'clock the same night. For lady visitors and others who do not attend the boxing there will be a plea-sant evening function in the colics gymnasium.

On Easter Sunday, at 3.30- o'clock, a special university church 'service-- 'will be held at St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral, at which it is hoped graduates will attend in academic costume. This service -will be taken by Archdeacon Johnson, vicar of St. Paul's. Immediately following th'a cb.iu.-ch service the members of the representative teams taking part in the University tournament, as well a s past students of Victoria University College attending the silver jubilee, arc-to be the'guests at afternoon tea' "of 'the Victoria College Christian Union. Easter Monday will witness some stirring contests on Athletic Park for the athletic championships of the New Zealand University. Silver - jubilee luncheon reunions of past students at 12.30 p.m., and a silver jubilee dinner at 6 p.m., are also .being arranged lor the same day; and in the' eveniiif at 8 p.m.,. tjie University^.'debating championship will be decided .in the Town Hall #.c judges on that'occasion being Sir John lindlay, Dr. Te Ran<nhiroa. (Dr. Buck), and*Mr. H: 'P Richmond. .. ...... . . „

Further tennis matches between past students of V.U.C. and the University tennis championship finals will • occupy the morning and afternoon- -of: Eastjr Tuesday.
