KING'S THEATRE.

A special film showing last week's pageant at Newtown Park, including the splendidly done "Empire Flag," carried out by SCOO children, will be shown at the King's Theatre to-night. Java, melting-pot of the Orient, 'where every nationality and all conditions of humanity foregather, is the setting for "Thundering Dawn," which is also bein.j shown. The photoplay shows Java in the vivid colour of the tropics—its seductive charm, its vices, and its perils—in a powerful story of a man's regeneration and a. woman's love. The climax is a groat typhoon that Nvipi.'s clean the coast. The story is laid partly in Back Bay, Boston, and deals with a young American, who, visiting Java, conies under the evil spell of the "professor" and "Lullaby Lou." For the latter lie forgets the girl he loves at home, and Lou is responsible for his loading a dual life. Once immersed in the life of the Java coast, he loses his self-respect. Then his former fiancee, a refined girl from the States, lands in Java to win him back to civilisation. J- Warren Kerrigan and Anna Q. iSiilsson head the cast, and1 are strongly supported. Included on the programme is an International News and a comedy. The King's orchestra contributes choice musical selections.
