PAGEANT QUEENS

CORONATION BALL ON SATUR- .-■ ■ • DAY.

. A special interest is attached to the close of the great Queen Contest in connection with the. Citizen-Soldier Pageant, this taking the form-of a Coronation Ball on Saturday.night at the Town Hall. ■ This will be arranged first as a spectacular. affair, the coronation ceremony and procession of queens, maids of honour, courtiers, heralds, and all officials of the court of the leading queen being one of great interest and beauty. There will be charming ceremonial, with plenty of fun attached, and when this is over the door will bo thrown open to the dancers,. and, from the amount of interest and eagerness shown, the attendance of those -who arc intending to take part- in the closing scene of the greatest pageant Wellington has ever known will be a record. Further details will be advertised day by day, and something quite unique is promised to Wellington, citizens.

"JOAN. OF ARC.

The arrangements for Joan of Arc's Dig ball for everybody are now complete, and the committee has no hesitation in saying that the equal of this hall has not been seen in Wellington for many a long day. A very efficient master of ceremony has been secured, and the fun will be fast and furious (but select) from start to finish. The orchestra is composed of musicians who are not only professionals, but who know how to introduce those effeclis which willgive the utmost- pleasure to the dancers. The procession of queens with their maids of honour will take place at 8.30, and the beautiful tableau will follow immediately. At 9.20 the grand parade, arid immediately after it the judging of the dancers. At 10.30 Joan of Arc will distribute the prizes. The Californianjazz Band will-be 'augmented by Messrs. Frank Egan (fiddle), Billy Tointoh. (xylophonist), George Ross (saxaphone), and.the Ragtime Quartette, all members of the famous Humphrey Bishop Company. A leading feature of the evening will be the beautiful stage costumes worn by the various members of ihe" Humphrey Bishop Company. The talented members of this company will see that the fun does not lag. Mr. Humphrey Bishop himself- will' be present: The "Joan of :A'rc" Committee assures all/a rollicking'good time. Tickets will be on sale in the street in front of the hall, in order to save congestion at the ticket boxes. "Joan-.of Arc," in person^ and' with • her ■' maids of honour in .attendance,1".will, receive her guests. Late .trams -will leave for Island Bay, Lyall Bay,,. Karori, etc. . Weather," but other opportunities; will be given to Wellington people to- assist the Returned ' Soldiers and the charming lady (Matron Wilson) who is their queen. To-morrow evening there will be a long night at the Ambassador, when the queen arid- her maids of honour will be present. Mrs. Tleister, Brooklyn, is giving a gift evening for this queen tomorrow,- night also, ■ and' on Thursday night there, will be . a card party and dance at Brooklyn.
