AMATEUR ATHLETICS
N"EW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIPS,
The Auckland team of athletes to compeLe at the New Zealand championships at-Dunedin on Saturday next ..arrived in Wellington to-day, and proceeds South to-night. Those making the trip are: W. 1,. Elliott (100 yds and 220 yds), N. 3. Grib.ble (120 yds and 440 yds hurdles and broad jump), J. W. Shirley, present New Zealand high jump champion (high jump, 120 yds and 440 yds hurdles, and hop, step,, and jump), Miss M. M'Neil (ladies events), and E. J. Grant (cycle events). The team is accompanied by Mr. H. M'Neil. G. Plummer, present Aew Zealand hop, step, and jump champion, and G. • Davidson (ex-champion spnnter)_ were unable to make the trip. \V. L. Vallance, distance runner, is leaving Auckland to-night far Dunedin. The Auckland team was met at the station to-day to Mr. A. T. Davies, chairman of the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association.
The Wellinsiton team is t 3 leave for Dunedin on Wednesday evening.
