CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. As the result of a police raid on a Chinese meeting hall in Madras street yesterday, when a big haul of opium was made, Lou Kou Sheong was fined £50 and costs, the maximum penalty, on a charge of being found in possession of opium in a form suitable for smoking. He was also fined £5 . for unlawfully smoking opium. The prosecution stated that the accused had been doing a retail trade in. opium. Apparently he brought the opium from Wellington.
