MELBOURNE, 30th January. A number of remarkable letters written by List at various times have come into the possession of the police, who, believing that they throw considerable light on his mental condition, are sub:mitting them for examination to an alienist. '
Though the police have tracked up numbers .of supposed clues and. the keenest watch is kept everywhere, there has been no trace of list. A special watch is being kept on the Yarra, in view of the fact that if the murderer has drowned himself his body will float in a given time.
