ROYAL COMMISSION" "WANTED.
(DMITID PRISI ASSOCIATION.—COPXBISII.) SYDNEY, 30th January. A deputation from the Miners' Federation asked the Minister of Mines to; appoint' a. Royal Commission to inquire into the condition of the mines in the Maitland Coalfield. It is stated that there is grave danger from the inflammable gas and inadequate testing of the air before the firing of shots, as well as insufficient inspection. The Hon. T. 0. L. Fitzpatrick wasj so impressed that he promised to confer immediately with the Chief Inspector of Mines to decide what action is to ba taken.
