WELLINGTON CENTRE'S CARNIVAL.
A specially attractive programme has, befn arranged by the Wellington Centre of "-the New Zealand Swimmiiig Association for its carnival at Te. Aro baths next Saturday afternoon. The programme of events will include the annual contest between Wellington and Canterbury for the Norden Cup- The competition, "comprises a 500 yards flying squadron race. ■,] a diving' contest, and a water pclp m^tch. Canterbury has been very successful .ih the competition in recent years,; but' the Wellingten team is .very confident' that a change in possession.wilL.take place this season. An added'attraction will be the. appearance of -Miss Gwitb.a -Shand, New Zealand's champion-lady* Swimmer, and Miss JepEen, of Dunedin, a young swimmer of considerable promise. She created a surprise atthe national championships at Wjinganui by defeating. Miss Piri Page, of jiAuckhnd, in the 75] yards intermediate'; championship. '
