QUELLING COLORUMS
PITCHED BATTLE IN PHILIPPINES.
(UNITIB PSBII AISOCIATIOIt. COPHKHr.) (AUMMMAN-Jlgw ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) MANILA, 27th January. The constabulary is fighting a pitched battle with Colorums, who have been engaged in roving banditry. The Colorums killed number fifty-four, and a considerable number of prisoners have been takqn. The constabulary, which has been concentrated in an effort to wipe out the fanatics, is proving to be not large enough to cope with the unrest, which, it is believed, will require the activities of regular army troops, since it has infected a large part of the southern Philippine region.
