Take 31b of white cabbage (free from green leaves) and Jib onions (peeled); cut white heart of cabbage into quarters, then cut quarters across into slices. Slice up onions and place all into brine (sib salt to i gallon of water), let stand 12 hours—then scald vegetables in brine until tender (not soft), strain, wash, and thoroughly drain. Place contents of £lb tin of "X" Musto in an earthenware basin, and mix with a little vinegar into a smooth paste. Add remainder of THREE PINTS of vinegar and 6oz of -white sugar, and bring to boil in an enamelled saucepan. While hot, pour liquor over' vegetables, stir the whole well together, then bottle.
