WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION MEETS
Members of the Management Committee of the Wellington Cricket Association met last evening. Mr. C. G. Wilson presided, and there were also present Messrs. H. Buck, B. L. Salmon, P. B. Broad, W. R. Bock, R. A. Berry, A. j Ronaldson, H. M. M'Girr, T. F. Martin, I and E. R. F. Hewitt. ' A suggestion by the Petone Borough Council that the association should pay i £30 per year for the use of the Petone Recreation Ground, the council to keep the outfield in order and the association to prepare the wickets, was referred to j the Senior Championship- Committee. ' The W-ellington Umpires' Association forwarded copies of motions carried at a meeting of- the association, drawing attention to rule fourteen in the Cricket Association's rules, and staging that the umpires had every confidence in tie present Selection Committee. Mr. W. R. Bock said that the matter was to be further considered at a meeting of the Umpires' Association on Wednesday evening, and notice, of motion had been tabled for an amendment of the rules, making- provision for the payment of -umpires under certain conditions. • . / It was decided to defer consideration of the question of payment of umpires until the next meeting of the association. Advice was received from th« ' New Zealand Council to the effect that it had been arranged to accommodate the New ; South Wales team at the Grand- Hotel during their stay in Wellington. Various matters in connection with the tour were discussed. The chairman said that there was a possibility of a financial loss in the case of one of the days of the Wellington match being wet, and he thought some steps should be taken to obviate the possibility of a loss as much as possible. It was decided to have tickets printed for admission to- ground and enclosures for the three days, the price to be 5s free of amusement tax.
