EVANS BAY PICNIC
Splendid weather favoured the holding of the Evans Bay Swimming Club's picInic at Titahi Bay last week. There was a large-attendance, and ■■ the ■ excellent arrangements which had been made by the committee enabled everything to be done to time-table. Mr. M. Burke acted as starter for the races, Messrs. R. J. Wilson and H. Cormack were the judges, and the handicaps were fixed by the club captain, Mr. C. A. Crisp. Results:— 100 yards handicap: C. O'Connor, 1; H. Lander and A. Fegan, dead heat, 2. 50 yards ladies' race: Miss R. Harris, 1; Miss C. Taylor, 2. 100 yards dual relay: H. Lander and Miss C. Taylor, 1; R. Christie and Miss M. Lander, 2. 50 yards blindfolded race :R. Christie, 1; A. Fegan, 2. Three-legged raoe: E. Priestley and Miss B. Compton, 1; H. Lander and Miss J. Hill, 2. Monkey race: A. Fegan, 1; E. Priestley, 2. Wheelbarrow race: A. Scott and L. Barrett, 1; Davidson and Burke, 2. Backward race ;,: F. Alquist, 1; C. Bott, 2. \ Lazy-stick competition: F. Alquist. In the tug-of-war, the married men won on six occasions over the single men.
