SYDNEY, 26th January. After a brilliant display Sid Godfrey defeated Bert Spargo on'points in twenty rounds for the lightweight championship of Australia. Godfrey was very aggressive and tricky, and pressed Spargo hard, trying for a knock-out. The latter fought back gamely, and had the better of the in-fighting, but Godfrey was too good at long range, and won by a comfortable margin. Spargo was handicapped by-ah injured knee in a tram accident some time ago. '
MELBOURNE, 26th January. Archie Bradley defeated Tommy Ureri on points in twenty rounds for the welter-weight championship.
