THE COUNTRY SAVED
FROM POLITICAL TRIUMVIRATE.
(Received 28th January, 10 a.m.)
LONDON, 27th January. Ihe "Church Times," discussing the political situation, saya that in the present circumstances,, if a coalition had heen formed, it would have been dominated by Mr. Lloyd George, wh.o is a ladle .politician, with, no fixed principles; Mr. Winston ChureKill, a-'way-ward genius, whose immense self-con fidence unfits him for uncontrolled authority; and. Viscount Birkenhead, whose Rectorial 'address at Glasgow University sneered at the ideals which are the very soul of the. Christian religion. "Without desiring -to minimise the situation, we suggested;'*' says the "Church Times,", "that thanks should be offered to God-for saving tlie country from the Lloyd George, Churchill, and Birkenhead combination. Character in high places was never more vital than to-day."
