EASTBOURNE BOROUGH COUNCIL
- The monthly meeting of the Eastbourne Borough Council was held on Friday under the chairmanship of Councillor H. W. bhortt. The following were also present :—Councillors H. M. Jones ]S A Dawson, C. Bowden, C. A. Marquis, H. J- T^vy, and C. Hattridge. Ihe genera! manager's report stated that repair work to the roads had been carried out in various parts of tho borougk Special attention had also been paid to Marine parade north and south of the wharf. During clean-up week a considerable amount of rubbish had been removed. ' The coai depot showed receipts totalhng £61 9s 6d and expenditure .£l2O 8s me total receipts from Ist April to 31st December, 1923, were £712 12s 9d aud the expenditure £852 2s, and U>«re were 81 tons of coal on hand, and also three tons of slack and 58 sacks of firewood. Rates collected during the month amounted to £343 19s IOcT. There was , still a considerable amount outstanding. -It was decided.to impose 10.per cent, pen--alty upon .rates outstanding on Ist March.
