SCOTTISH PICNIC
, The annual picnic of the Scottish Society and the Pipe Band of Wellington was held at Maidstone Park on •Anniversary Day under ideal ebnditons. A large number of members availed themselves of the opportunity for a day's outing 'amang their am folk," and a most enjoyable time was spent. Members of the Pipe Band were present, rendering many selections and providing music for the dances. A comprehensive programme of sports and • games was drawn up, the younger members being specially 'catered for. The Highland dancing events drew large entries,land some very keen contests ensued for the Bernie Ballantyne Memorial Cup and the aggregate pbints medals. The arrangements were in the capable hands of the following committee:—Chief, Captain C M'Arthur; chieftains, Messrs. L. M'.Kenzie and G. Lachlan; treasurer, Mr. N. M'Lean; secretary, Mr. W. E. Bovd; and M_essrs. Anderson, Hands, Stokes. and MacDougall.
