SYDNEY; 25th January. Speaking at an official dinner, ViceAdmiral Saito supplied tlife sequel to the capture of the German raider Emden. .^Kesaid that, when the news that the raider was loose in the Pacific was received, the Japanese battle-cruiser Ibuki was rushed off to intercept her, but the Australian cruiser Sydney got there first. While the Japanese realised what a splendid fight the Sydney had made, they were a, bit disappointed .because they were too late to take a hand in the final battle.
Referring to the Washington Treaty's replacement of the Anglo-Japanese Alii. ance, he said that it had not altered the feeling between Japan and Britain. If anything, it was stronger an ever.
