SHOP ASSISTANTS' AWARD
—•—i An award of the Arbitration Court has been issued in regard to the Canterbury Shop Assistants' dispute. According to the Court's memorandum attached to-the award, the scale of wages prescribed differs to some extent from the rates contained in other shop assistants' awards. The memorandum makes it clear, however, that in view of the fact that a shop assistants' dispute-cov-ering a number of industrial districts is now pending, the. present award is not to be regarded as,a precedent, or as in any way prejudicing the settlement of the larger dispute.
