MOTOR-DRIVING COMPETITIONS.

A sport that is different from, the usual run of every-day sports is always appreciated, and the motor-driving competitions, to be held at Newtown Park this evening, promise not only to be different, but to provide an unusually, interesting entertainment. The principal events are the ladies' open championships, men's open championships, young ladies' championship (under 20),. and youths' championship (under 20). A gold medal will be awarded to the winner of each of these events, and also to each runner-up. For motor-cyclists there will be a motor-cycle and side-car contest, a motor-cycle solo contest, and numerous other events not yet finally arranged. To see the fine- display of new models in cars and cycles, should alone be worth the trip to the Park. During, the night there will be good comedy shows, pictures, dancing, and music in the opgn. ' His/ Worship the' Mayor, Mr. R. A. Wright, and councillors will a civic reception to the Prime Minister the Right Hon. W. F. Massey, in the Concert Chamber, Town Hall, on Monday afternoon, at 3 o'clock.
