FINALS, IN DOUBLES EVENTS

MASTERTON, This Day. _ The tennis championships were continued to-day under the adverse conditions of slippery courts and light. show; ers. Andrews and Miss M'Laren easily put out Peach and Miss Wellwood'in the semi-final of-the combined doubles. There are several matches yet to be played in this event. , v ;.

In the, semivfinal of tfie men's singles, Walker beat Pike easily, arid he/ will meet Andrews in the final.

In the ladies' doubles, Misses MacFarlane and Payton beat Mrs. M'Master and Miss Howe, and we're then beaten in the final by Mrs. Melody and Miss M'Laren. They took one set from. Mrs. Melody and Miss M'Lean, this being the first.set taken from the champions in the course of four tournaments.

The final of the men's doubles resulted in a win for Walker and Cowper from Goodman and Barkman; The winners played a fine game from the service line, taking the last two sets, after being beaten easily in the first.

.Steady rain is again falling, but it is hoped to get a few more games off to-day.
