LODGE MEETINGS
Wildey Lodge, No. 107, 1.0.0. F., N. 25:, held its lortnightly meeting'at St. Hilda's Schoolroom, on Wednesday, Bro. J .Nind, N.G., presiding. . There was a large attendance, including officers and members of lodges making official visits. •One candidate was elected and obligated. Tiie District Deputy-Grand Master (Bro. F.- N. Lee, KG.), and district officers attended, and installed' in regular form the following. officers for ensuing term :—Bros. J. Nind (1.P.G.), C. Havill (N.G.), E. Corin (V.G.), E. Oxenham (F.Sec), H. Ledger. (B.Sec.),H. Davies, P.G. (Treas.), D. Craighead (Warden), B. Wheeler -(Conductor), B. Havill (Chaplain), F. Jones, P.G. (R.S.N.G.), H. Thompson (L.S.N.G.), J. Craighead (8.5.5.), T.Wells (L.S.S.), J. Meaghan (8.5. V.G.), J. Thompson (L.S.V.G.), and W. Jackson (1.G.). On concluding business, members and visiting brethren sat down to ail "installation supper," during which-, the loyal and other toasts'1 were diily honoured. Particular reference was made to the services of Bro. J. Nind in the V.G.s chair during the past, two terms of the lodge, and appreciation was recorded.
Muritai Lodge, No. 113, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., held its first. meeting. of the new year at Eastbourne on Wednesday, Bro. J. C. E. Turner, N.G., presiding. There was a good attendance, and, in addition to other business, fifteen members eligible were advanced to the Pink (First) Degree by Bro. J. Edwards, P.D.D.G/M., assisted by other district officers. •'Several nominations were received, and details of a social and dance to be held on Ist February discussed. The fortnightly meeting of Esther Rebekah Lodge, No. 30, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., was'held, at Brooklyn on Wednesday, Sister T. Cole, N.G., presiding.' After routine business was completed, including nominations of two lady candidates, installation of officers for ensuing term was carried out by the Lady D.W.G.M. (Sister 0. C. Gordon, P.N.G.), and suite (P.N.G.'s Sisters C. Edmanson, R. Finch; E. Maley, Ledingham, and H. Christian), the elective officers installed being : Sisters ,T. Cole (1.P.N.G.), -S. T. Clarke (N.G.), M. Taylor (V.G.), R. Mason (F.Sec), and C. Hunter (R.Sec). Subsequently the lodge entertained officers and members of Kindred lodges present at an installation supper, during which various toasts were rendered:
1 Victoria Eebekah Lodge, No. 2, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., held its meeting at Nowtowu on Thursday, Sister R. Finch presiding. \ There was a good attendance, and one candidate was elected and initiated. Arrangements were completed {or'the customary installation supper .at next meeting, following installation of officers for the new term, and invitations issued to officers and members of kindred lodges. *
Southern Cross Lodge, No.' 24, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., held its- fortnightly meeting on Thursday, Bro. J. H. West, N.G., presiding. There was a very large attendance, including officers and members of kindred lodges making official visits. Officers, as follow, wore initiated in regular form for the ensuing term by the District Deputy Grand Master (Bro. F. N. Lee, P.G.), assisted by district officers :—Bros. J. H. West (1.P.G.), E. Foster (N.G.), H. Amyea (V.G.), H. Christensen (P.D.D.G.M.) (F.Sec), F. Steers' (R.Sec), H. H. Meech, jP.G. (Treas.), R. 'Andrews (Warden), G. F. Rudkin, P.G. (Conductor), H. Finch, P.D.D.G.M. (Chaplain), H. Meech (R.S.N.G.), C. Cowley (L.S.N.G.), W. R-eilly (R.S.S.), F. Jarvis (L.S.S.); F. Reilly (R.S.V.G.), G. Fraser (L.S.V.G.), W. Gilder (1.G.), and J. Cottrill (0.G.). The D.D.G.M. pointed 'out that Southern Cross Lodge, established in 1877, was considerably older than the large majority of members present, and that it rested with the new N.G. and his officers to maintain the illustrious traditions built up durin" that period. A pleading feature of the evening was" the rendering of the ritualistic odes by members, under leadership of Bro. K. Tahiwi. Fraternal greetings were delivered by representatives present.
