BELIEF IN ELTHAM DISTRICT.
(IT TELEGRAPH.—MISS ASSOCIATION.)
ELTHAM, This Day. ■ After a long period of excessively hot ■weather, welcome rain set in-this.morn-ing. The ■ pastures were in poor 'condition owing to the hot spell, and milk supplies were greatly reduced. The output of butter and cheese- will show a considerable shrinkage, as is already proved by the lessened demand for butter boxes and cheese crates from the box factory.
The rain is too late to' revive the milk snpply materially, but it will do great good to root crops. In some cases turnips have been sown twice in consequence of the continuous hot weather.
