The " Daily Chronicle's " Berlin correspondent says that Germany's most serious present trouble is unemployment, which has produced a more terrible state of affairs than any experienced in any other European .country, except Russia, in modern times.
At least three million workers are entirely unemployed in occupied and unoccupied Germany, receiving a meagre unemployment dole of 4s weekly for a bachelor, and 7s for married men. Half a million Germans in two hundred towns are subsisting entirely on one free meal daily at a soup kitchen.
