Summer* v. Carswell.'—Carswell did not play in' this." game on* Monday through an unfortunate misunderstanding, assuming that the games would be postponed on account of rain. He did .not arrive at St. .Albans green until well after the games had started; meanwhile his lead (W. B. Allan) and W. Allan, who had been playing second in Carswell's rink, started; playing as skip and lead respectively. When CarsweE arrived on the green the substitute pair had a good lead over Summers. He then came away, and later went to the Canterbury green, fully believing that his pair would win.?1 Towards the end of the game, however, the Canterbury pair commenced to catch up to their opponents, and at the end of the thirteenth head- the scores were : Carswell (Allan) 14, Summers 6. Summers won six of the remaining eight heads, Allan scoring two singles only. ■After the nineteenth head the scores were : Taieri 16,. Canterbury 11. With two heads to go, and requiring- five to tie and six to win, Summers put up a great performance by scoring a couple of 3's, and winning by one point. Milson v.
