MAGISTRATE'S COURT

Unduly-enthusiastic observation and celebration of . Christmas Eve and Christmas Day led to regrets this morning at the Magistrate's Court. , Messrs., I.Salek and T. H. Coltman, J.P.^, presided.

Several first offenders were convicted v and discharged, or fined the-amount of •■ their bail, and Joseph Josiah Ford, who ;.- had, after celebrating, essayed driving;? a_ horse and cart, steering a course round' one corner and another as far as the * Taranaki Street Police Station, was fined. -\ £2. . ■ ..■■-■■ -:i

Raymond Arthur Blackbee, whose cardriving in Tinakori and Karon roads had not been up to the mark, a collision with a tramcar at the corner of Hill street and' Tinakori road haying-set a black mark against it, was fined £5 and costs. Eobert William Wilson, who had six times previously been convicted of drunkenness, was fined £2, in default, of payment, to go to gaol for fourteen days. . \ .

A remand till to-morrow was also ',:■. made in the cas^e of Michael O'Brien, ■ who was arrested in Wellington on a ■: charge of having used obscene language \' on^ the Central' Wharf, Auckland." '/■ James Edward Foster, found sleeping 7 in a shelter shed in the Buckle Street.' School ground, was convicted and^dis- ' charged on the understanding that lie t returned to Shannon without delay, but ]'.- Martin M'Donagh, who was also found >'. in a shelter, and had rather a list of previous' convictions against ■ him, w«i sent to gaol for a month.
