RAILWAY FATALITY
William Hassett, aged 60, a single man .residing at Kaitoke and employed as a roadman, met his death at the Upper Hutt railway' station on Monday afternoon. Apparently he had boarded the 1 train leaving Upper Hutt for Wellington at 5.25 to farewell a friend, and did not notice that the train had moved off till it had considerable way on. He hurried to the carriage platform, but slipped in jumping off and fell across the line, and the rear carriages passed over his body, causing instantaneous death.„
