Other qualities, 198s, 200s per cwt (Is 9£d, Is 9Ad per lb); 1725, 190s per cwt (Is 6id, Is B£d per lb); 150s, 174s per cwt (Is 4d. Is 64d per lb). Hemp.—Manila market firm. The de^ rr.and continues for all descriptions. "J" grade spot sold at £33 ISs. Buyers now offered £34 15s for January-March ship, ments. "G" grade quoted at £40 and values. No business reported with New Zealand, but prices quoted are higher. High-point £33 15s per ton. Fair £31 15s per ton. ' . t •

"Wool.—Sales closed with very strong tone, and hardening tendency all values. Continent and America operating keenly. The total offering was 156,000 bales, 148,000 being sold, Home trade taking 82,000 bales, America 2000 bales, others 64,000 bales. Crossbred no change since last report. Met strong demand, specially from York and the Continent. Average closing rate. 60-64's, 2s 2d, 2s 7d; 56's, 2s, 2s 4d;'-48's, Is 6d and Is 7d; 44-46's, Is 4d, Is sd; 36-40's, Is-ls 2d. Large quantities of slipe wool offered and sold readily throughout. Fine 10 per cent., medium 20 per cent., coarse 15 per cent, higher. Next sale commences 22nd January.
