STELLA SOLD AGAIN

FOE CHATHAM ISLANDS SERVICE.

DUNEDIN, 25th December. The well-known .steamer Stella, which has been laid up here since April, 1921, has been purchased' by Mr. Zohrab, o£ Wellington. The Stella, which will be placed in dry dock at Port Chalmers for overhaul, is to be engaged in the trade between Wellington, Lyttelton, and the Chatham Islands.

The Stella came to the Dominion forty years ago, and was owned by the Government, being used in lighthouse work for many years before the purchase of the Hinemoa. The vessel was subsequently purchased by the ■LeylandO'Brien Timber Company, of Auckland. She was put out of commiasion somo years ago and used as a store ship in Auckland Harbour up to the time she was purchased by the Otago Iron Rolling Mills Company, under whose ownership Bhe made several trips from New Zealand to Melbourne and SydHey with timber.
