QUEEN'S THEATRE.
Self-made Wife," and the fine supporting programme, screening at tlio Queen's Theatre, will be shown for the last time to-day. To-morrow's change shows youths in their teens, operating amateur radio plants, who saved the day for William Desmond and a big film company engaged on the filming o£ "M'Guire of the Mounted," which heads the bill. In the final scenes of the picture it was necessary to use snow scenes, and Lawton' planned to send the company to Bear Valley. But the storms had washed out telephonic connections, the single line into the woods, strung on trees, being short-circuited in several places by the dampness. Lawton got in touch with a number of wireless amateurs, members of the Los Angeles radio club. "In seven hours I had six telephone calls from different amateurs, reporting the message through and an answer," says Lawton. The company thus sent to Big Bear included Williani Desmond, Louise Lorraine, Vera James, W. A. Lowery, and others. The supporting; pictures include a Century comedy, "High ickers," a Paramount com-; edy, a Burton Holmes Travelogue, and the latest Gazettes. The Queen's Grandi Orchestra will supply the usual delightful musical fare. The box plan is at The Bristol. ' . |
