HAVING A COOL TIME.

The expedition of five Norwegian whaling dap., Star I, Star 11., L* 111., Star IV-., and Star V., which is being accompanied to the Ross Dependency by Captain G. S. Hooper, as the representative of the New Zealand Government, has now. reached the far south, and yesterday the following radio message was received by the Marine Department from Captain Hooper, who is travelling on the mother ship Ross :— Koss and. five Stars now within Dependency. Captain Larsen desires mark occasum of respectfully tendering his compliments to His Excellency the GovernorGeneral of New Zealand and to the rnme Minister. Temperature, plus 1 centrigrade. Some snow."

His Excellency the Governor-General has sent to Captain Larsen, through Sir Francis Bell (Acting-Prime Minister), the following radio message:— ' "Greatly appreciate your message. Christmas and New Year's greetings, and best wishes for prosperous season." Sir Francis Bell has also expressed his appreciation and that of the Government at Captain Larson's message, and wished him and' his enterprise all good fortune.
