SALUTARY SENTENCE
COMMERCIAL TRAVELLER SENT
TO GAOL.

HAMILTON, This Day. In the Magistrate's Court, David Davis, a commercial traveller, was charged with using abusive and obscene language in a railway carriage. <. Evidence was given that accused was travelling first-class on a second-class ticket, and when remonstrated with used the language complained of, creating a disgraceful scene, despite the presence of ladies. Accused pleaded he had had a few drinks in celebrating his birthday.. He had no recollection of the incidents. The Magistrate imposed a month's imprisonment.
A Dalmatian named Steve Dominikovich pleaded not guilty to a charge of carrying on business as a bookmaker, and was committed for trial.
