CHILDREN'S PLAYGROUNDS
The new children's playground at Pirie street will be in full play order in a very short lime, as the apparatus is now being erected, comprising six swings, four see-saws, a full-sized vock-a-bye, two chutes, and an American chair, a new plaything for Wellington youngsters. In its main lines it-resem-bles the rock-a-bye, but has rather more of a horizontal, gliding movement, sweeping over the ground and rising and falling comparatively little. Grass, will cover most of the reserve, but the children's play area is to be strewn with fine sandy grit.- Grass lasts no time when youngsters set out to enjoy themselves, and asphalt has been found unsatis factory, kicking out in. very short time
