GOOD QUALITY AYRSHIRES.

INVERCARGILL, 11th Dec. Record entries were received for the Southland show, which opened to-day in fine weather. Tho cattle section was the strongest in the show, and better than at any previous show here. In Ayrshires, there was a big entry of good quality. Friesians also were a, strong section. Following are the championship awards:— Cattle.—Ayrshire: Cow, A. Weir; bull, James Henderson. Shorthorn: Bull, J. A. Scott (Brookside); cow, J. Nixon (Killinchy). Milking Shorthorn: Cow, R. A. Anderson; bull, James Bateman. Hereford : , Cow, A. S. Holms; bull, James King. Jersey: Cow, R Gibb; bull, Mrs. Hellyer and Son. Fnesian: Cow, W. D. Hunt; bull, J. A. Bell. Red Polls: Cow and bull, G. S. Young.
Sheep.—Border Leicester: Ram, G. P. Johnston; ewe, T. S. Little. Leicester: Ram, W. Kennedy; ewe, I. Evans. Romney Marsh: Ram, J. Mosley and Son; ewe, Adam King. Shropshire Down: Ram, W. Kennedy; ewe, T. Evans. Southdown: Rani and ewe, W. Kennedy. Corriedale: Ram, J. E. White; ewe, H. P. M'lntyre. Ryeland : Ram and ewe, T. Evans.
