APPEAL FOR FOREIGN BOOKS.

(Received nth December, 1.30 p.m.) PARIS, 10th December. On the motion of the Japanese representative, Professor Nitobe, the International Commission on intellectual cooperation is appealing to the universities, literary and scientific bodies, and private persons throughout the world' to give books to restore,the foreign collections of the library of the Imperial University of Tokio, which was destroyed by the fire after the earthquake. It is suggested that the books should be sent to the Japanese Embassies in the respective countries.
