PRIZE-GIVING CEREMONY

CROWDED ASSEMBLY HALL.

As was the case last year, the Assembly Hall at St. Patrick's College was last evening totally inadequate to accommodate the number of parents and friends of the scholars of the year now ondad. The ceremony took the usual form of a recital in costume, followed by the rector's (Father T. A. Gilbert, S.M., M.A.) speech, the prize distribution, and the speech by his Grace Archbishop Red-

.The rector said the school had never had such a. large attendance as on the Ti? 6"i g"™gi >* the same time, the school had during the year seen its largest roll-call. They had reason to feel most optimistic as to the progress of the school m all its aspects. The class room work had been good, sometimes excellent. There had been a tendency J o ' r,Tw *^ 9 boys too earJy £roi» scnool, but this position was being remedied. Thu^year nine boys had been recommended for higher leaving certificates, the attainment of which entitled them to three free years at the university.

The recital covered the Katherine scene from "The Taming of the Shrew," and was enthusiastically, received, as it deserved to be, aa were also the orchestral items which were interspersed.
