SWIMMING
G.P..0. CLUB.
The tenth season of the G.P.O. Swimming Club was opened at the Te Aro Baths on Saturday last. In congratulating the club on its present satisfactory condition, Mr. H. D. Edwards, actingassistant controller, welcomed the new members who had joined up this year. He urged the committee to endeavour to enrol every young man employed in'the Department, pointing out the manifold benefits accruing to active participation in this healthy and attractive form of sport. He.also desired to see the club represented in all the various interclub relay, races this season., ■' ■ - '■'.-.■
By their attendance at the function, BeveTal of the foundation members of the club proved that, although age now prevents them from competing in the races, their interest in the club is -still maintained. ASO yards handicap -\vas swum, the winner proving to be E. Z Black (Msec), H. B. Simmonds (ssec) and W. Mulholland (Bsec) filling second and third places respectively. Time 41 4-ssec.
