WHAKATANE, This Day. " William Wright, aged 135, a ringl* man, was charged at the Police Court yesterday with converting a mare, cadi die, and bridle, to. his. own use. Three other charges of theft from settler* are to be preferred against him. " Prisoner pleaded ) guilty and was sentenced' to one month's imprisonment and twelve; months' reformative detention. , -:
Wright was further charged that on Ist December, at Waimana Gorge, near Taneatua, he did wound a mare, the property of Adam Te Whetu by means of acorrosive chemical substance. On the application of the police the caee wag «d- | journed for a week.
