CHARGE OF ASSAULT.

Page, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court to-day, when May M'Donald, alias Annie Wilson, charged with assaulting Margaret Gallehawk and causing actual bodily harm, pleaded not guilty. ■ _ . • ] Medical evidence was given to the injuries received by the victim of the alleged assault. All that witness had done was to protect herself in self-defence. - The Magistrate said that he proposed to convict the accused, though possibly there was provocation.. The accused need not have taken the action she did. The Sub-Inspector said that the accused had the character of being a good worker. . His Worship' convicted the accused and ordered her to enter into a bond of £20 a* a surety of good behaviour for 12 months. She would also have to pay the costs of the proceedings and witnesses' expenses. Three weeks were given to pay.
