AUCKLAND, This Day. There is conclusive evidence that the cattle tick has made its appearance in the Waikato district as well as the cattle disease known as blackleg. Speaking at a meeting of the Te Awamutu branch of the Dairy Farmers' Union, the president, Mr. F. Quinn, urged all farmers to assist the stock inspector to their utmost in his efforts to check the spread of the tick pest. He said the pest was not previously known in the district, but within the past two or three days cattle at Mangapiko, five miles from Te Awamutu, had been found infested Mr Quinn said that some of the Depart .ment's regulations might seem harsh but they were Well Worth observing as otherwise the pest would spread ahd be very costly to combat. Prompt united action would probably be effective and regulations would then not be necessary for more than a few weeks.
